Wastewater Plant Upgrades
The wastewater plant is currently undergoing renovations to install the most advanced treatment technology available for wastewater treatment. The new technology will replace equipment that has been in service for 20+years. With the new technology, the plant will be able to produce Type 1 effluent, which is the highest quality effluent TCEQ recognizes. Approximately 1 million gallons/day of the effluent is sent to Harbor Lakes ponds for irrigation of their golf course. The plant uses Ultra violet light for disinfection prior to discharge; therefore, no chlorine or other chemicals are needed or discharged to the receiving stream.
The series of phased improvements including rehabilitation of the existing South Wastewater Treatment Plant capacity of 2.0-mgd will offer advanced treatment via membrane bioreactor technology that will deliver advanced water quality treatment.
The City of Granbury Phase 1 Wastewater Improvements Project - Funding for the project was wholly provided by the Texas Water Development Board Clean Water State Revolving Fund.
