Triple Crown Award Winner

The City of Granbury has received the prestigious Triple Crown Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). It honors cities that meet the highest standards in financial transparency and accountability. 

To earn this award, Granbury received all three of GFOA’s top honors: the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. 

This achievement highlights the City’s strong commitment to responsible financial management and keeping residents informed about how public funds are used.

Lowery

Granbury Volunteer Fire Department's David Lowery named Firefighter of the Year

Lt. Lowery has been honored as the 2024 District 16 Firefighter of the Year by the Firefighters’ and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas. Recognized for his leadership, dedication, and service, Lowery received the award for his exceptional commitment to firefighter training and public safety across Hood and surrounding counties. A four-year GVFD veteran, Lowery currently leads the department’s fire academy, where he trains the next generation of firefighters. “Being a firefighter is a commitment to responding and making sure that our community is safe,” he said. Grateful for the support of his team, Lowery emphasized the importance of work ethic, teamwork, and lifelong learning in the fire service.
