On December 12, 2023, Granbury Police Department officers were dispatched to Granbury Middle School for a report of multiple students possibly ingesting some type of drug.
The initial information received indicated that all the students involved had eaten some candy from the same package prior to becoming symptomatic, and that candy had been recovered. Four of the students were transported to Lake Granbury Medical Center with reported symptoms of being under the influence of some type of drug.
Blood tests for all students showed negative results for any type of drug. The candy was taken to the DEA lab in Dallas and tested, and it also showed negative results for any type of drug.
It is not known what caused the reported issues with the students, but the testing indicates that it was not caused by any kind of drug.
